A New Look 4

If you’ve wondered why Writing Through Life has been unusually quiet this last month, it’s been because I’ve been working hard to finalize and get the new website up and running.

And today, I’m proud to present the new WritingThroughLife.com site, fully mobile-responsive, and with a new look and feel. If you’re receiving this post via email, please jump on over to the site and take a look. I think you’ll like the change!

A portion of the new WritingThroughLife.com home page

You’ll notice the new home page right away, with a new menu, large banner, and featured pages icons above the fold. I’ve added new “About,” “Books,” and “Services” pages, as well.

Beneath the fold on the home page, you’ll see the most recent blog posts, and you can navigate to all the articles or by category using the menu just below the Recent Articles title.

This change has been a long time coming — I actually started revising the website two years ago. After a lot of stops and starts (mostly stops), after hiring the wrong (but well-intentioned) people to help, after trying a multitude of WordPress themes, and after getting lots and lots of assistance via support forums and experts it’s finally here!

It’s not perfect, and I have a lot of future enhancements planned.

Still on the To-Do List …

  • Add a resources page. The resources page will feature recommended books on journaling, memoir, and general writing craft, as well as links to other web-based writing and technical resources. If you know of resources you believe are worthy of recommending to others, please send the info to me using my Contact form.
  • Add a “Write for Us” page. I hope to grow the Writing Through Life community by inviting other writing and journaling experts to contribute.
  • Increase Sharing and Community Interaction through the addition of discussion forums.

In the meantime, feel free to explore the new look and feel of Writing Through Life and let me know what you think by leaving a comment below this post.

Thanks, Patsy! As a do-it-yourselfer, I was rather terrified when I went to replace the old site with the new one this morning. And I did have one glitch, when the system sent out a “Hello World” post to my email list. Ah well, live and learn! I’m so happy to finally have my new site up and running … I can hardly believe it.

This is just the sort of web site that offers the kinds of thought-provoking nooks and crannies that provide hours of fun for ALL writers! You provide stimulating posts that I look forward to reading, and everything, Amber, is presented so clearly! I love the New Look!
